This was a very special Easter Egg Hunt designed specifically for those in our community who are visually impaired, as all the eggs emit a sound so that they can be found during this Easter Egg Extravaganza.
April 2, 2019 – The Brevard Zoo, in Viera is located approximately 1 hour east of Orlando’s theme parks and 30 minutes to Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, offers fun and delightfully educational activities in a manageable setting.
April 1, 2019-Brevard Public Schools partnered with technology leaders, including Boeing and NASA, to host the inaugural Innovation Games. Teams of sixth-grade students competed in STEAM-focused challenges.

March 14, 2019—Soon we’ll see yet another new hotel going up in Viera’s Town Center. The hotel will have 118 suites, and like the 116-room Fairfield Inn & Suites that opened up in May 2018, it is being developed by the Sycamore Investment Group which also owns and operates the Hampton Inn in Viera.
March 14, 2019—Industry publication SpaceNews chose the Space Coast as its “Turnaround of the Year” award winner for 2018 and calls the Space Coast an “early front runner” for turnaround of the decade.
February 19, 2019—Manned test flights are on the schedule for this year, working toward the day when astronauts are once again lifted into space aboard vehicles launched from the Space Coast.
December 21, 2018–The year is ending with good news on Florida’s Space Coast. Three firms with a big Space Coast presence are big winners with nine defense industry contracts totaling more than $280 million announced in the timeframe of Dec. 10-17, 2018, capping what is already described as a banner year.
December 16, 2018 — The SpaceX launch on Dec. 18 will feature several companies with a presence in Brevard, SpaceX, Lockheed Martin Corp. and Harris Corp.
October 15, 2018–Embraer has introduced a pair of new private jets named Praetor 500 and Praetor 600. The Praetor 500 can fly nearly 3,700 miles, more than 300 miles further than the Legacy 450 on which it’s based.
September 19, 2018 — Melbourne-based Harris Corp. was awarded a $500 million contract by the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency to perform services on a program called HELIOS.
Sep 4, 2018 — The Boeing Co. and Lockheed Martin Corp. won three government contracts on Aug. 30, 2018 for more than $1 billion total bringing work to Orlando and the Space Coast.
August 29, 2018 — “The decision to base the new ship on the Space Coast continues a decades-long relationship and reinforces Carnival Cruise Line’s position as Port Canaveral’s number one cruise operator,” according to Port Canaveral spokesperson.
August 31, 2018 — Market research suggests that the aquarium could attract an average of 575,000 people a year, generate an estimated 50,688 nights a year in hotel room rentals, support 675 direct jobs, 262 spinoff jobs and $85.54 million in total economic impact on the area.
July 25, 2018 — Two of the biggest defense companies in the world scooped up additional contracts.
Lockheed Martin’s Aeronautics Co. won a 3-year contract for $175.3 million for the U.S. Navy for development, testing and activation of 13 different F-35 component repair capabilities in support of the F-35 Lightning aircraft.
