May 20, 2019 — The Space Coast Tourism Development Office estimates the economic impact from USSSA events (January through September 2018) as conservatively $12.4 million, with more than 40 team events accounting for more than 52,000 room nights.
April 22, 2019–Florida Institute of Technology (Florida Tech) has been awarded a grant to help make the tools to supercharge learning at makerspaces.

March 14, 2019—Soon we’ll see yet another new hotel going up in Viera’s Town Center. The hotel will have 118 suites, and like the 116-room Fairfield Inn & Suites that opened up in May 2018, it is being developed by the Sycamore Investment Group which also owns and operates the Hampton Inn in Viera.
March 14, 2019—Industry publication SpaceNews chose the Space Coast as its “Turnaround of the Year” award winner for 2018 and calls the Space Coast an “early front runner” for turnaround of the decade.
February 19, 2019—Manned test flights are on the schedule for this year, working toward the day when astronauts are once again lifted into space aboard vehicles launched from the Space Coast.
December 21, 2018–The year is ending with good news on Florida’s Space Coast. Three firms with a big Space Coast presence are big winners with nine defense industry contracts totaling more than $280 million announced in the timeframe of Dec. 10-17, 2018, capping what is already described as a banner year.
December 16, 2018 — The SpaceX launch on Dec. 18 will feature several companies with a presence in Brevard, SpaceX, Lockheed Martin Corp. and Harris Corp.
October 15, 2018–Embraer has introduced a pair of new private jets named Praetor 500 and Praetor 600. The Praetor 500 can fly nearly 3,700 miles, more than 300 miles further than the Legacy 450 on which it’s based.
September 19, 2018 — Melbourne-based Harris Corp. was awarded a $500 million contract by the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency to perform services on a program called HELIOS.
Sep 4, 2018 — The Boeing Co. and Lockheed Martin Corp. won three government contracts on Aug. 30, 2018 for more than $1 billion total bringing work to Orlando and the Space Coast.
August 29, 2018 — “The decision to base the new ship on the Space Coast continues a decades-long relationship and reinforces Carnival Cruise Line’s position as Port Canaveral’s number one cruise operator,” according to Port Canaveral spokesperson.
