February 27, 2023 – Take the most popular sport in the world and mix in the best boy’s soccer team in the state and what do you get?

The first state title for Viera’s boy’s soccer. Congratulations to Viera High School’s boys soccer team on taking the FHSAA Class 6A state championship after a 4-2 win over Ft. Myers on Saturday!

It wasn’t an easy road to this massive victory. In round one of the playoffs the Hawks had a decisive 5-1 success over the Bartow team, then traveled home to get by Melbourne 1-0.  From there they shut out New Smyrna Beach 4-0 and met St. Thomas Aquinas in the semifinals and again came out on top 2-1.

That brought the team to the game with the Fort Myers Green Wave at Spec Martin Stadium in Deland this past Saturday. Goals were chalked up to Hawks Max May, with two for Yordan Torres and another for Alex Canlas, bringing the undefeated Hawks a 4-2 win and Viera’s first ever state championship.

What a season! What a team! Head coach Nick Robinson guided the young men to a regular season record of 20-0-1.

Viera couldn’t be prouder. It’s a great place to live, work and play soccer with the best. Go Hawks!
