Tied Together Creates Lasting Gifts for the Holidays
December 23, 2024 – ‘Tis the season for giving and that’s a wonderful thing. We can all remember the excitement that we felt as kids when we knew a shiny new toy was hidden under the tree. That excitement faded over time and often the toy was forgotten. But if someone gave you the present of knowledge or taught you a new skill, that was a gift that could last a lifetime.
That’s the idea behind “Tied Together”, an organization that has been sharing skills for more than a decade. It started in 2014 as a small volunteer effort at Cambridge Elementary by a local realtor, Glen Outlaw, and has grown to more than 250 volunteers.
These volunteers teach Middle and High School students how to tie a tie, shake hands and how to “stand tall as an individual.”
Recently, Todd Pokrywa, President of the Viera Company, along with some colleagues from Viera worked with 7th and 8th graders at DeLaura Middle School on Florida’s Space Coast to share these simple, yet valuable skills.
According to Pokrywa, “Tied Together continues to empower Middle and High School students with the tools they need to make strong first impressions and carry themselves with pride. It’s inspiring to see how a simple gesture like teaching someone to tie a tie can build confidence and leave a lasting impact.”
“Thank you, Glen, for your vision and leadership. We are proud to support this meaningful initiative alongside so many passionate individuals in our community!”
What a great way to give a lasting gift for the holidays.
Viera wants to wish all of you a healthy, happy and joyous season. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
