VHS Girl Wrestler Wins State

March 10, 2025 – Recently Emma Hoppe became the first VHS Girl Wrestler to win the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) State Championship. She is also the second Viera Hawk to accomplish this goal.

Finishing an impressive year, the senior took the 135-pound weight class by defeating Ana Vilar from Flagler Palm Coast with a decisive 13-1 victory, also known in wresting circles as a “major decision”.

With more than 100 wins in her senior year, Hoppe is also the reigning Cape Coast Conference champ, as well as District, Regional and State champ.

Several of her teammates also placed in the Top Eight in their weight classes at the state championship, with the team missing a perfect seven for seven by one.
