Record Breaking Space Launches Thrill on Veterans Day
November 12, 2024 – Yesterday was a Veterans Day treat for space aficionados, when SpaceX sent two Falcon 9 rockets on missions about 4 hours apart. The first launch broke the record as the 77th orbital launch during a single calendar year, quickly followed by the 78th launch on that impressive list. The schedule calls for 30 more launches before the end of the year, so record-breaking will become an enjoyable habit for the Space Coast.
And just as impressive is the recovery part of the missions. The first Falcon 9 booster on the Koreasat-6A mission delivered the payload then successfully touched down at Canaveral Space Force Station, becoming the 364th recovery of an orbital-class rocket. The second mission, for the Starlink endeavor, landed on a SpaceX drone ship to become the 365th successful recovery.
