VHS Football Star Jamari Lyons Signs with Florida

Viera High fans

December 21, 2021 – It’s not really a surprise, but great to see Viera Hawks Jamari Lyons make the decision to stay in Florida and start his college career with the University of Florida Gators. He saved making the final decision until his mother’s birthday, which may free up the wish from blowing out her candles for something else.

Nationally ranked, Lyons is an impressive teenager, weighing in at 295 pounds on a 6-foot-4 frame. During his 33 games at Viera High School he racked up 36 sacks and 62 tackles. No doubt the QBs on the receiving end remember each of those hits.

Although Lyons visited several schools before making his choice, it seems the decision was never in much doubt.

“I always had a feeling it was going to be Florida just because that was the team that I always looked up to,” Lyons said. “When I was little, I was always watching their games and always thinking about Florida. That’s my dream school. So, once I got the opportunity to go there, I always kind of knew that it was going to be Florida.”

Viera congratulates Jamari Lyons on his outstanding achievements and wishes him the best of luck with the Gators and beyond.
