The Viera Company

Ben Wilson is General Counsel for The Viera Company. Ben was recruited to The Viera Company in March 2016 after having practiced real estate law in Miami since 2004. Prior to joining The Viera Company, Ben served as a Partner in the Real Estate Department of statewide AM Law 200 law firm of Shutts & Bowen based in Miami focusing on representing developers and investors in land acquisition and sales, leasing, commercial real estate finance, and the development and operation of hospitality, multi-family, office, retail, luxury residential, and condominium properties.

In his role as Corporate Counsel of The Viera Company Ben wears many hats, and he assists management in connection with its commercial and residential land sales, land development, and community management activities, as well as provides legal counsel to The Viera Company’s affiliates Viera Builders, Duran Golf Club, and Addison Village Club.

Ben is a member of The Florida Bar Association and its Commercial Real Estate Committee and Condominium and Planned Unit Development Committee, and he is a frequent lecturer on real estate matters.

He holds his Masters of Law (LL.M.) in Real Property Development from the University of Miami School of Law, his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from the University of Louisville School of Law, and his Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering Technology from Murray State University where he was recognized as the Outstanding Senior Man. Ben has also been recognized as a Super Lawyer, Rising Star by the Super Lawyers magazine ranking legal counsel.

Ben is originally from Paducah, Kentucky and is an avid supporter of the University of Kentucky and its sports teams. In his spare time, he is pursuing his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business. Ben resides in Viera with his English Bulldog Farley. Outside of work, he enjoys watching University of Kentucky basketball and football, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, NBA basketball, football, and good comedy shows, as well as exercising and outdoor activities and spending time with Farley.
