Team Viera Takes to the Ice for Charity

February 25, 2025 – The Space Coast Iceplex came alive with the “snick, snick, ssss” of skates this past weekend as hockey pros and talented amateurs displayed their skills during the inaugural Health First Pucks with Pros NHL Alumni Pro/Am in support of cancer research. Viera is proud to have been a sponsor, along with many other companies in the area.

Todd Pokrywa, President of the Viera Company is a lifelong hockey fan and also a player who led Team Viera in their game during the event on Friday night.  He was excited to welcome the pros while raising needed funds for charity. “We were honored to welcome NHL Alumni including Mike Krushelnyski, Brad May, Stu Grimson, Stephane Matteau, Ric Seiling, Eric Nystrom M.S., Dennis Maruk, Grant Marshall, Brian Propp, Jason Dawe, Bryan Muir and Steven Oleksy,” Pokrywa said, “A huge thank you to Pucks with Pros’ Jon Jehrio for bringing this event to Florida’s Space Coast and to all the sponsors who make this incredible event possible.”

Admission was free, but donations were encouraged to support Genesis House in Melbourne, Florida and the PA Breast Cancer Coalition. A silent action also helped raise funds and awareness for these worthy causes.

“I was thrilled to attend the Pucks with Pros event this weekend,” said Debbie Thomas, Director of Marketing for WELBRO Building Corporation, one of the event’s sponsors “This exciting gathering brought together National Hockey League alumni and talented amateur players from Florida, other states, and even Canada for an important cause.”
