SEA TURTLES NESTING HAS A GREAT YEAR

October 10, 2025 – Viera is located in the heart of Florida’s Space Coast, and our nearby Atlantic coastline is also one of the most important sea turtle nesting areas in the world. And this year, the turtle mommas are really making an effort, and the numbers tell the tale. Here’s some information from the City of Cape Canaveral:

INCREDIBLE Sea Turtle Season in Brevard County! 

Our beaches have been making waves for conservation! The September 2025 nesting numbers are in, and they speak volumes about the health of our coastal ecosystem.

So far, Brevard County beaches have hosted:

20,401 Green Turtle nests – the SECOND-HIGHEST season on record!

10,615 Loggerhead nests – these gentle giants continue to thrive

52 Leatherback nests – the ocean’s largest turtles

1 Kemp’s Ridley nest – a rare and precious visitor

These numbers represent thousands of baby sea turtles making their way to the ocean, a testament to decades of conservation work, protected habitats, and our community’s commitment to keeping beaches dark and safe during nesting season.
