BIG 3 CONTRACT WINNERS
December 21, 2018–The year is ending with good news on Florida’s Space Coast. Three firms with a big Space Coast presence and more than 22,000 workers across Central Florida–Lockheed Martin Corp., Harris Corp. and Northrop Grumman Corp.— are big winners with nine defense industry contracts totaling more than $280 million announced in the timeframe of Dec. 10-17, 2018, capping what is already described as a banner year.
The new contracts are due to the signing of a $674.4 billion federal defense spending bill for the fiscal year that ends in September 2019 — an increase from the previous year’s $639 billion budget. The last time the defense industry saw this much activity was 2012. More defense and technology developments and high-paying jobs are expected across the Space Coast and Central Florida. Stay tuned.
