Sand and Sea, Together Again

December 1, 2021 – A visit to the Brevard Zoo in Viera is always a treat and when they have special attractions added, it just gets better and better. Included with a general admission ticket, Life Beneath Our Sea is an exhibition that must be seen to be believed.

Thomas Koet of Satellite Beach, Florida preps a work in 2010. Koet has been recognized as the World Champion of Sand Sculpting and his work will be on display at Brevard Zoo.

Made up of huge sand sculptures created and masterfully constructed by world-class artists, these massive works explore the mysterious and beautiful realm of marine life. All twelve sculptures can be viewed at your leisure as you enjoy the Wild Florida attraction at Brevard Zoo.

How do they keep these behemoths standing?  Why don’t they collapse under the weight of tons of sand?  There’s a fascinating story behind that, and you will learn all the details when you visit these sand creatures at the zoo.

When? Now through the end of April 2022.

How much? Included in the price of visiting the zoo.

Why? Because unlike huge statues made of marble or stone, these unique works are transient by design.  Once the show is over at the end of April, the sand returns to its original form and all that is left is the memories made by you. Like sand through your fingers…
