Construction In Brevard Is Going Strong

July 21, 2023 – According to Brevard County Property Appraiser Dana Blickley, $1.55 billion of new construction has been added to the county’s tax rolls in commercial and residential construction in the past year.  Viera is well represented, with three multi-million dollar projects and hundreds of new homes built.

This amounts to a 21.8% increase and is the third-highest new-construction total ever recorded in Brevard.

There were a dozen projects valued at more than $5 million apiece and three of those projects were in Viera. The Blake, an assisted-living facility was appraised at $14,350,380; the Jaguar/Land Rover/Lincoln dealership appraised at $9,239,710; and the Avid Hotel appraised at $6,264,700.

In terms of home construction, the Property Appraiser’s Office also saw an increase in construction and counted 4,079 new single-family homes and townhouses built in 2022, up from 3,093 built in 2021. 586 of these new homes were in Viera.
