MELBOURNE ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT WINS $2.5 MILLION GRANT

February 19, 2026 – According to FLORIDA TODAY, the Melbourne Orlando International Airport, Viera’s nearest flight option, was recently awarded a $2.5 million grant from the Florida Job Growth Grant fund by Gov. Ron Desantis. The grant will be used as part of an $11 million total infrastructure investment by the airport, an effort the airport authority says is necessary to create about 500 jobs paying more than $75,000.

Viera is centrally located to take advantage of some great travel opportunities. Orlando International Airport, which in 2024 served more than 57 million passengers, making it the busiest airport in the state and the ninth busiest airport in the country, is about 45 minutes from Viera. Orlando Sanford International Airport is a one hour drive from here and the Melbourne Orlando International Airport is only 25 minutes from us.

And if you are looking for a sea cruise, a 25 minute drive takes you to Port Canaveral, home to many of the world’s newest, largest and most technologically advanced cruise ships from seven leading cruise lines. Port Canaveral has been named the Best U.S. Cruise Homeport by Cruise Hive and Best North American Homeport by Cruise Critic.

And if your ambitions are even higher, you can always become an adventurer and launch for outer space from Kennedy Space Center, about 30 minutes away. (Or just visit, it’s less strenuous than astronaut training.)
