HEALTH FIRST NURSE MANAGERS BECOME MOTHERS HOURS APART

July 18, 2025 – Here’s a heart-warming story from Space Coast Daily. Two longtime Health First nurse managers delivered their babies within hours of each other at the Birth Suites at Viera Hospital. Both mothers serve in Health First leadership roles.

Tia Thomas, a nurse manager for Interventional Prep and Recovery at Holmes Regional Medical Center took the lead, giving birth to Juniper on July 1 and about 12 hours later Sarah Doak, manager of the 5 West med-surg telemetry unit at Holmes, delivered Sloane at the Mother/Baby Suites at Viera Hospital.

“And when we got here, everyone was super accommodating between the physicians, the nurses and all the staff. It’s just been a great experience overall,” Thomas said. “I think everyone’s done a really great job of accommodating us and making sure that we are safe and our babies were delivered safely,” said Thomas.

According to Health First the birth suites amenities include:

• Private, spacious rooms designed for labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care.
• Accommodations for your guest to stay in the room with you during your stay.
• In-room nursery so your baby can stay in the room with you.
• Lactation support.
• Entertainment system that includes WiFi and cable television channels.
