CMS AWARDS VIERA HOSPITAL WITH TOP RATING
Health First’s Viera Hospital was recently given a 5-star overall rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, known as CMS. This is the third straight year the hospital has earned this acknowledgment.
Viera Hospital is one of 10 hospitals in the state of Florida to receive the rating and the only hospital in Brevard County to do so. Out of 4,609 hospitals that were evaluated, only 290 hospitals in the U.S. were given 5-stars.
CMS publishes its Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings annually.
According to the CMS website: The Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating (Overall Star Rating) summarizes a variety of measures across 5 areas of quality into a single star rating for each hospital. The hospitals are measured on mortality, safety, readmission, patient experience and timely and effective care.
