March 15, 2019—New STEM degree programs to help boost employment are coming to Florida Tech and UCF.
In 2019, the University of Central Florida and Florida Institute of Technology are launching two new STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) programs to help boost talent production.
Commercial space studies:
Florida Tech starting in June 2019 will offer a 12-credit, four-course graduate certificate program in the growing commercial space industry.
Students will hear from NASA experts, private-sector pioneers and other industry leaders on financing, management, technology and entrepreneurship.
Florida Tech will offer the program through a partnership with France’s International Space University.
Materials science and engineering:
UCF in the fall of 2019 will offer a bachelor’s degree that combines engineering, physics, chemistry, and design and manufacturing materials.
Students in the program will be able to intern with companies including Lockheed Martin Corp., Siemens AG and Mitsubishi Group.
