VIERA HOSPITAL PLANS FOR NEW BUILDING, DOUBLE CAPACITY
September 2, 2025 – Health First has announced plans to grow the capacity at Viera Hospital from the current 98 beds to 214 beds, building a new five-story facility with new operating rooms, an expanded emergency center and a cardiac catheterization lab. Although actual construction must get approvals from the Brevard County government, Health First has long had plans to expand services to keep up with the population growth in Viera. The expansion is part of Health First nearly $800 million in investments across Florida’s Space Coast.
The expansion includes:
- 64 new inpatient beds
- 2 operating rooms
- 1 cardiac catheterization lab
- Doubled emergency department capacity
- 10-bed Clinical Decision Unit (CDU)
- Expanded imaging and support areas
- Shelled space for up to 32 additional inpatient beds, 2 operating rooms, 1 catheterization lab, and support space
Recently Viera Hospital celebrated the first anniversary of the labor and delivery unit which officially opened in August of last year. The Birth Suites includes 14 rooms for labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum care. Plans include an additional four beds for labor by 2026, with 16 beds for general care and a new inpatient unit as part of an expansion on the fifth floor of Viera Hospital’s existing building.
