VIERA HOME SALES Up for 2020

July 21, 2020 – “Nationwide, master-planned communities (MPCs) aren’t just surviving the pandemic — they’re flourishing” writes Orlando Business Journal reporter, Alex Soderstrom.

The 50 top-selling communities sold 6.8% more homes in the first half of 2020 than 2019’s top sellers, according to RCLCO Real Estate Consulting.

Despite the coronavirus pandemic, home sales are up in the region’s most successful master-planned communities.

Viera, Florida was ranked #13 on the mid-year list of the best-selling master-planned communities in the U.S., released July 9 by real estate consulting firm RCLCO. Recording 357 sales in the first half of 2020, Viera home sales were up 41% from the 254 homes sold in the first half of 2019.

“MPCs have historically performed better than other new residential communities in times of economic hardship,” Vice President Karl Pischke and Managing Director Gregg Logan wrote in the report. “Year-to-date MPC sales have performed stronger than the market overall, and this is consistent with historical trends.”

Central Florida was represented in the RCLCO rankings with three local communities among the top 50: Viera, Lake Nona, and The Villages (a massive 55-plus community that spans three counties, understandably led the list). Texas, Florida, and California accounted for 66% of total sales among the 50 top-selling communities.
