Patrick Air Force Base gets busy

July 5, 2018 — New deals announced for contracts to be performed at Patrick Air Force Base are worth nearly $30 million.

ZEL TECHNOLOGIES won a $20 million contract with the U.S. Air Force. All of the work for the five-year contract will take place at Patrick Air Force Base and in Melbourne. Zel Technologies will provide radiochemistry laboratory support, program management, simulation and modeling support, and nuclear physics/engineering subject matter expertise. The company is currently hiring, according to their website, for positions in Cape Canaveral–software engineer, senior software engineer, senior electrical engineer and senior computer scientist.

PERATON INC. won an $8.2 million contract with the U.S. Navy to conduct work at Patrick Air Force Base, according to the U.S. Department of Defense. The company’s four-year contract is to provide developmental testing and evaluation scheduling. Peraton has a location in Melbourne and is seeking a test engineer, two software engineers and a system integration and test engineer, according to their website.

Central Florida is a major player when it comes to defense contracts. The region snags about $4 billion in government contracts each year.
